Chlamydia—named after the bacterium that causes it, Chlamydia trachoma is-spreads when body fluids are passed through sexual intercourse-vaginal, anal or oral. An infected mother can also pass it on to her newborn dugong vaginal childbirth. It may infect the urethra and rectum in both sexes, and the cervix in women. It can also affect other part of the body including the throat, eyes, lungs and liver.

Signs& symptoms:
-Discharge from penis or vagina.
-Pain or burning during urination.
-Pain and discharge from the rectum if Chlamydia was caught during anal sex.
-Mucosal inflammation of the genital tract, throat or rectum.
-Neonatal eye infection.
-Pneumonia.
Treatment:
Chlamydia can be cured with a short course of antibiotics. And don’t have sex until the treatment has finished. Adhere to your doctor’s advice.

If not treated:
Chlamydia can spread and cause damage to your reproductive organs, thus preventing you from being able to have children. Here are some warning signs of that damage:
-Males can have continued penile discharge, pain and swelling in the testacies and fewer.
- Females can get an infection that leads to PID.
